About Us
The Government College of Technology, Coimbatore formerly known as Arthur Hope College of Technology, was started in July 1945. The Institute is one of the premier Engineering Institutions of the Country having a very large contribution to academic and technological developments. Ever since that prestigious moment, it has set the standard of recognition standing out as an outstanding Institution with technical expertise. This Institution offers nine UG programs and eleven PG programs with recognised research supervisors to pursue M.S. (by Research) and Ph.D. Programs in all the branches of study. All departments have well qualified staff members and excellent infrastructural facilities.
The inauguration of GCT IEEE Student Chapter was held on October 5 , with Dr.Umashankar Subramaniam, GCT Alumnus, former Vice Chair IEEE Madras Section, as the chief guest. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. P.Thamarai. principal of GCT. Dr.V.Gopalakrishnan, HOD/EEE and EIE, and Dr. Ranjith Kumar, branch counselor of IEEE. The members of the club were appointed. Thus, a small stepping stone was laid for building a large IEEE Student Chapter Empire in GCT.
GCT IEEE Student Chapter -81571 develop a strong research culture in GCT by engaging in various technical activities with
global industry experts , researchers and scientists worldwide thereby helping students in their publications and registering
Intellectual Property (IP). IEEE helps students by sponsoring cutting edge global conferences in various technological
domains in GCT
IEEE will be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals everywhere, and be universally
recognised for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions.
