The inauguration of GCT IEEE Student Chapter was held on October 5 , with Dr.Umashankar Subramaniam, GCT Alumnus, former Vice Chair IEEE Madras Section, as the chief guest. Matrix Validation

presenting the problem statement & prototype, phase 2's review was completed. The
participants selected and presented the different problem statements from the domains, including
cyber security, data science, IoT, website and app development, etc.

   Skynet 2.0 – Innovation Unleashed

         20.08.2023 to 01.09.2023

          

   Skynet 2.0, the intra-college hackathon, sparked creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving among students. With generous support from our alumni, mentors, faculty, and the Ketto platform, participants turned bold ideas into impactful tech solutions.
      The event saw active participation from 130+ students across various departments and unfolded in three key phases:
🔹 Phase 1 – Idea Submission
         (August 20, 2023):
Students submitted innovative ideas addressing real-world challenges. The most promising ones were shortlisted.
🔹 Phase 2 – Prototype Planning & Mentorship
       (September 1–15, 2023):
      Shortlisted teams received guidance from mentors to develop and refine their prototypes.

 Phase 3 – Final Build & Demo (Main Event on February 03, 2024):Finalist teams built and showcased working models, using materials funded through alumni contributions. Skynet 2.0 was more than a competition—it was a vibrant platform for learning, innovation, and future-ready thinking.

            EPIC Workshop

    StackVerse was a hands-on workshop on ETL pipelines, cloud integration, and data management, held under Skynet 2.0.
     Led by Mr. D. Anandakumar (GCT MECH 2021, Product Manager at SC Network), the session helped students gain practical insights into data workflows and industry tools.
    The event enhanced technical skills and offered a chance to build professional connections.

 Ice Breakers

The Ice Breakers session marked the vibrant beginning of IEEE GCT’s new phase. Squads for Solar, Robotics, and IoT were introduced, showcasing their focus areas and goals. Alumni Vivek Poovalingam highlighted teamwork’s role in innovation. Fun icebreaker activities helped participants connect and build a sense of community.

               Solar Paint Technology

Focusing on innovation in renewable energy, this seminar explored solar paint technologies like perovskite and quantum dot variants. Attendees learned about futuristic developments and Toshiba's contributions. Interactive quizzes sparked curiosity, and the session left participants inspired by the possibilities of sustainable tech.

Mukil Saravanan delivered an in-depth session covering core machine learning concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning. Participants explored key algorithms, deep learning models, and real-world applications in AI. The interactive webinar provided a solid foundation for those interested in AI and its future impact.

SKYNET 3.0 :Phase  2

The shortlisted teams presented their projects before an expert jury. 8 teams were selected for the final phase based on technical strength, innovation, and real-world relevance.

           AutoGenix

AutoGenix, a two-day hands-on intercollege workshop on Industrial Automation. This workshop was designed to provide participants with practical knowledge of automation technologies, equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate the evolving landscape of industrial automation. The workshop featured interactive sessions, hands-on training, and expert insights to bridge the gap between theory and real-world applications led by Mr. Angappa Velumani.

This session introduced the fundamentals of IoT, covering sensor integration, cloud storage, and secure data practices. Real-world demos on phishing and authentication kept learning engaging. Participants explored the ESP module through a fun Chrome memory game, bridging theory and practice effectively.

Students explored IEEE research papers under the mentorship of IoT, Solar, and Robotics squad leads. The event encouraged critical thinking, group discussions, and knowledge sharing. Active participants were rewarded, making it a motivating and insightful session for budding researchers.

SKYNET 3.0: Phase 1

      

SKYNET 3.0 was an intra-college hackathon, promoting innovation and problem-solving. The event challenged students to develop impactful solutions for real-world issues.

Over 40 teams registered with innovative ideas under predefined and open themes. 20 teams were shortlisted based on novelty, feasibility, and impact after abstract evaluation.

The top 8 teams showcased their working prototypes to jury members and attendees. The event celebrated creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities
